McDonald’s in the U.S. will eliminate all free beverage refill machines by 2032

The Associated Press reported on the 13th (local time)스포츠토토 that customers will no longer be able to refill their own drinks at McDonald’s in the United States .

McDonald’s announced in an email interview with the Associated Press the day before that it plans to remove self-refilling beverage machines from stores across the United States by 2032.

The explanation is that this is to maintain uniformity in all types of services, from in-person use to online delivery and drive-through.

It is not known whether McDonald’s stores in other countries have made the same decision as the United States.

Until now, customers at McDonald’s stores were able to freely refill beverages such as cola and cider through a machine installed on one side of the store.

However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of customers using drive-thru and delivery services has increased, leading to a sharp decline in store traffic.

McDonald’s announced that digital sales generated through store apps and delivery apps accounted for about 40% of total sales in the second quarter of this year.

However, McDonald’s did not comment on whether factors such as the company’s financial situation or hygiene management influenced this decision.

According to The State Journal-Register, a local U.S. media outlet, some stores in regions such as Illinois have reportedly already removed refill machines.

In addition to McDonald’s, some food chains have responded to changes in consumer behavior over the past few years.

Representative examples include expanding drive-thru stores and strengthening links with delivery apps such as Uber Eats.

McDonald’s also announced the launch of ‘ CosMc’s ‘, a new type of store with a smaller dining space.
